Given all the controversy I got over being so open about my 90 day journey (where I work out and eat healthier to get in the fittest shape of my life ), I can now understand why women don’t like to be open about getting plastic surgery, even though it’s their body and their choice. The bad part about that is that girls don’t know what’s real or what’s not...so they end up feeling bad for having features that are literally carved out by a medical professional. Features you can’t have unless you’re blessed by the genetic lottery or have a ton of $. Whether you believe in cosmetic surgery or not, we should all agree that we should not bring someone down for making a decision on their body that shouldn’t affect us...But maybe that’s the problem. Guys, I just decoded the Instagram beauty standard!!! How? For 2 weeks I analyzed the top 100 most followed female Instagrammers and came up up with 22 attributes for each woman to be judged on. After a couple weeks of gathering and categorizing the data, I can tell you that there is most definitely an “ideal“ formula that the Top 100 adhere to. And that formula has become our current societal beauty standard. It’s eerie. Saving seats for my friends like: 🙃 Here’s a quote for you to think about: "Real friends accept you for who you are while helping you become who you should be"...unless who you should be, could be...harmful. . Since starting the 90 day journey, I've lost followers and subscribers. Initially, I felt hurt and extremely frustrated that people were judging me, labeling me and diagnosing me in these long comments and huge debates. But now that some time has passed, I've been thinking that perhaps those people cared about me SO MUCH that they couldn't stand to see me harm myself...to see me relapse into another ED...to see me spiral out of control...so they left. . If you're still with me and still reading the blogs, I think you can tell at this point that my original intention of getting in the best shape of my life physically AND mentally, has held strong this entire time. My mind is clear, I'm happier and more confident each day!! . But for those who already unfollowed, perhaps it is my fault for not creating a friendship with them where they felt like they could trust me fully - trust that I wouldn't enter this 90 day journey without diligent preparation. It's hard to get so intimate on the internet - but I've tried my best to be as transparent with you guys as possible. . I hope that those who have stuck with me the past 4 weeks can see the real me shining through again. 🌟 Real Cassey had been submerged under a sea of constant judgement over the past several years, so fearful of backlash that she didn't want to come out at all. But now she's unchained, free, and she WILL NOT be scared to speak her mind ever again! This is me, FULLY ALIVE. And it feels SO GOOD. . Testing out this cute scrunchy and I’m kinda obsessed now. Should @popflex_active make scrunchies to match our next collection release!??? Also super happy with my hair growth! It was at my neck about a year and a half ago. Goal is to get it down to my waist. I’ve been dying my hair it’s natural color so there’s less breakage. And I’m taking collagen almost everyday (plus eating good food ) so I think that’s def helping! Yay! #blogilates
Tomorrow is the week 3 weigh in and I predict that there will be no progress. Around -5 lbs is where I begin stalling. Body fat % has also stalled. No matter if it’s me going paleo, vegan, whole 30, keto, or whatever - my body gets real smart after 5 lbs and figures out how to stop the losses! I really don’t want to start counting calories, but I suspect that I might be overeating. I love cooking, eating, tasting and pretty much everything that has to do with food! I’m so passionate about food that it’s not hard for me to keep eating and eating and eating way past fullness 😝 I’m an overachiever ya know!? In the beginning, all the extra fats on lazy keto kept me satiated. But after my period, I feel like things kinda got weird and now I’m just ravenous all the time. Might be time to change the diet and switch it up. I am a believer of constant experimentation with a flexible mindset. Let’s see what happens tomorrow. Wow, I didn’t know that me wanting to lose some weight and shed body body fat would be so newsworthy. Buzzfeed, Women’s Health, DailyMail already. A reminder to all that my 90 day journey is not about getting skinnier because I think it’s gonna solve all my problems and make me happier. 🤦🏻♀️ It’s about getting in the fittest shape of my life - physically and mentally - cuz I want to. I guess the problem lies in me being so open, transparent, and honest about everything on my blog. But lemme tell you, being able to write freely again has given me so much JOY. I’m sorry that I denied myself and denied you guys of my rawest self over the past several years because I was tip toeing around sensitive topics and was scared of hurting peoples feelings. No more. Just like I said on day 1, I’m doing this for me. And if you’re starting your own 90 day thing (which I’ve seen some of you are! ) remember that our numbers, our food, and our workouts will be different. Do not compare yourself to me. Compare yourself to you. Because you’re doing it for YOU. 👊 #blogilates @blogicomics
I’m not gonna lie and say this 90 day journey ain’t about numbers. It sure is. The number of blocks under my heel!!! 😜 Whether it’s the number of inches my crotch is off the floor in middle splits, the number of reps I wanna complete, the number of pounds on the dumbbells I wanna lift, the number of steps I wanna take to complete the rings on my Apple Watch, or the number of pounds and body fat percentage I wanna reach to get into athlete level, I’m measuring progress in NUMBERS. I used to let numbers control me. Ruin my day. But then I realized...numbers are just data points. They have no power to tell me how to feel unless I let them! So I went from a girl who was scared of the scale...to a girl who steps on it and reads the number with no emotional attachment. It takes time to train your mindset to react that way. The other day @samlivits said that he’s really happy with everything we’ve accomplished and that he’s content being exactly where we are. I felt peaceful...for a moment. But then, I RUINED it. The overachiever part of me said “But there’s still so much more to achieve!!! I’m nowhere near where I want to be!” Yet, if Cassey 10 years ago could see where she was today, she wouldn’t believe her eyes. It’s part of my personality to keep going, keep striving, no matter how hard it is. I want to always do better because achievements are one of the things that brings me genuine happiness and motivation. My overachieving trait has gotten me exactly to where I am today...but it’s also what leaves me feeling unsatisfied a few minutes after I accomplish something. Weird how life balances you out like that. Something I need to figure out. Like...how important is accomplishing something to completing my sense of wholeness? 🧘♀️ Friday thoughts ya know?! 🍦🍰HOW TO GET OVER FOOD GUILT🍕🍔 . I just got back from a 4 day trip, and let’s just say my tastebuds were very very happy 😊 Between the healthy salads…I TOTALLY indulged on churro donut holes, ice cream sundaes, pizzas, milk shakes, burgers, animal-style fries – I mean I WENT HARD. . Rewind back just a few years and you’d have a pitiful Cassey feeling bad about her choices and logging extra dreaded hours at the gym to “punish” herself. Cassey today – she just lives her life and owns it! . 1️⃣ So how do you get to food freedom? . Think about this: Does feeling guilty reverse the fact that you ate the food? Does it somehow make you feel better? Does it teach you anything? Nope. It just steals your time, makes you feel miserable and gives food way too much power over your thoughts. . 2️⃣ Why do you feel guilty? . When you feel guilty about eating ”bad” food, it’s because you think you’ve actually done something wrong. You’re upset. You’re disgusted. You hate yourself for having no control. . But the reality is, food is fuel – not a moral issue! What we need to do is REDEFINE what it means to eat healthy. Feeling guilty for eating “bad” food is just as unhealthy for your mind as feeling superior for eating “good” food. . 3️⃣ You gotta stand strong behind your own decisions. . If you’re going to eat a “YOLO meal”, then do it wholeheartedly. Make the decision, then commit to it 100%. Eat it, enjoy it, forget about it, move on.
