We hear you. We must do more to protect and amplify Black voices, and to make YouTube a safer, more inclusive space. We are committed to doing better. For more, read our CEO Susan Wojcicki’s letter to the community. Link in bio. ———— We hear you. We must do more to protect and amplify Black voices. Last year, we revised our hate and harassment policies to further prohibit harmful content on YouTube. However, we know there is more work to do. We are currently reexamining our platform to ensure that Black creators, artists and users can share their stories and not be subject to hateful, white supremacist and bullying content. In addition, we are dedicated to elevating the voices of Black creators and artists and their stories. Today we are establishing a $100 million content fund, and this Saturday, YouTube Originals will host Bear Witness, Take Action, a live stream fundraiser benefiting Equal Justice Initiative. We know that these are only small steps towards meaningful change. We’re committed to ensuring that YouTube becomes a safer, more inclusive space, and that Black creators, artists and users feel powerful, supported and centered. To Black creators, artists and users: Thank you. Your fight for change inspires us. We stand with you and we will work to make change.
#DearClassOf2020 , as @aliciakeys says, “it’s been a hard week, in a hard month, in a hard year; but one thing is true, you’re taking your heartbreak and outrage and putting it into action.” It’s immensely important to act, but we also want to take a moment to recharge and acknowledge that you did something amazing - you graduated. So we hope you will join us and a few other friends to celebrate you, before we all get back to work. youtube.com/dearclassof2020
